Corrupted Hive Collection

A highly intelligent colony of insect and arachnid infused beings that predate mankind. They were once worshipped by the ancestral people of Lowshroud, respected and even given offerings in the form of precious minerals and crops to their queen. However, this arrangement would later be dissolved, as Queen Arachne's lust for dominance and power would lead to the request of more plentiful offerings, some in the form of blood. Fearing their ascension to the surface, the people of Lowshroud trapped the hive beyond the Sullied Gates, bound by powerful ancient magic by the wisest sages in the land.

The once prosperous kingdom of the colony, now driven into a state of rage, are bound underground while the surface continues to grow and become industrialized. Their desperation led to madness, as attempts of escape were made, leading to the discovery of roots from a great tree. This tree beared fruit in the form of a blighted nectar, fueled by mysterious cosmic shards. This nectar would provide the hive with strength, faith and renewed hope... A hope that was ill-fated, as it planted the seeds of corruption and secured the inevitable downfall of the hive. The queen and her regime, now turning on one another, forming factions of vile subterranean monsters, hellbent on supremacy of both their own kingdom and the surface world above.
